A cluster of aloe caught my eye at a local shopping centre car park. They looked very unusual, almost alien-like with spiky, long, arching leaves, resembling a creature with tentacles that could exist on another planet.
The colour is what really drew me in with its glowing deep orangey red outer leaf, contrasting with hints of fresh lime green on the inside.
It rained over the next couple of days and when I returned to the shopping centre I was surprised to see the leaves had lost their deep orange red colour and had transformed into a lush green plant.
