Anna-Mei Tapia studied Fine Art during her foundation year at Central Saint Martins, London, which led to being awarded a place in the prestigious Fashion Design Womenswear Honours Programme.
After graduating, she moved to Sydney to raise her young family. Anna-Mei is married to renowned spray paint artist, Sid Tapia.
It was only a matter of time before she picked up the spray paint cans and began to use them on her own canvases. Being a Brit and living in Bondi when she first emigrated, the ocean and sunshine have always inspired Anna-Mei.
This is reflected in her sublime, contemporary, soft-ocean palette used in a lot of her paintings. The use of spray cans to apply paint creates movement and energy over the mixed media, ensuring each artwork is unique and dynamic. Gold leaf, varnish and resin are utilised to enhance the vibrancy and textural qualities of some of the pieces.
Her paintings are created with the intention of creating an emotion in the viewer. She firmly believes art can establish an atmosphere with size and colour.
Whether that be bold and empowering with the use of brush strokes, or soft and feminine in the choice of colour palate, Anna-Mei has a wide range of art works suitable for any interior design theme. Most recently, Anna-Mei has created ink illustrations focusing on the female form.
Anna-Mei also offers bespoke bridal and portrait digital illustrations and prints.
