Artwork Description

I live in an area surrounded by trees and we have many Kookaburra families coming to visit us and often we get a baby Kookaburra in the garden learning to fly and sing. They perch themselves on the back lawn ready to tuck into their next meal from the garden. A group of Kookaburras is called a riot - probably because of their loud laugh/call that sounds like they are all having fun!

My name is Anna van der Gardner, I am a passionate botanical & landscape artist. I love to paint in watercolour, oils and acrylics, totally different mediums that bring such different results.
My passion is for painting everything that is in the botanical or natural world. I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by a botanical treasury of plants and birdlife which is where I draw my inspiration from. I photograph them closely and study the fine detail before selecting which flower, bird or scene to paint. I also live by the coast in Bronte where I am constantly photographing the ocean, beaches and parks close to my home so I can capture them on canvas.
