Annaliis is a Brisbane artist who uses printmaking, mixed media and acrylic painting to explore and communicate experiences of joy. She has had a successful career in art teaching, and is currently studying ways in which art can be used therapeutically in educational contexts.
Annaliis' art is quirky and abstract, focusing on both micro and macro perspectives of nature and their correlation with the notion of joy and how it is perceived. Her inspiration is derived from a range of sources, including personal experience, her garden (including the process of destroying and starting again), God's word, and her mother, that all somehow interlink. Despite having a number of bodies of work and individual pieces, Annaliis's art all overlap to some degree. Inconveniently, most of her ideas come to her as she is going to sleep at night, but when it comes to producing the work, Annaliis draws on previous pieces and these new ideas to create new art during the day.
As well as producing works on canvas, Annaliis's aim is to create art that is accessible and brings joy to all. She has spent the last three years successfully building "The Yellow Gallery", a small business that turns artwork into wearable art pieces.
