I am an expressive artist based in Drysdale, Victoria.
My paintings are inspired by junctures of time. I am interested in capturing periods that elude us, but which have an impact. Often a final painting is made up of several other paintings that combined contribute to the completed artwork. This unconscious process is symbolic of my aim; to capture inconsequential fractions of time that combine to make up the quintessence of our lives.
As an intuitive painter, my colourful art works are each unique. My works are often textured and some include the use of dressmaking patterns. At art school in 1998 I began experimenting with the use of material and thread on paintings and the use of dressmaking patterns soon followed. For some time, I discontinued using patterns and textures in my work but over the last 5 years I have found myself again rummaging through old dressmaking patterns and returning to the use of them in my artwork. I realise now that like the chair (another favourite object often seen in my paintings) it is the lack of form yet the fact that the shapes and lines are based on human form that intrigue me.
