Anne Littau Madsen Danish/Australian abstract landscape artist.
My name is Anne (Anna) and art has always been part of my life.
Being in nature, walking my dogs every day - that sense of 'friluftsliv' and living in the free air inspires my landscapes which are intuitive and spontaneous.
My paintings express my imagination and the beauty I see, I simply cannot NOT create, it's. part of my DNA.
Growing up in Denmark art was part of my upbringing with my mother and grandmother encouraging creativity through sewing, knitting, pottery as well as painting. My grandfather was a master glass blower.
Maybe it was the long winter months!
My process is to work at one piece at a time, allowing the painting to grow organically as the layers build up without being constrained by rules or what the end product is meant to be,
When I start seeing something emerge through the layers, then I find the direction. And above all else I love colour - bright and bold.
I constantly think about the painting and adding to it, I only consider it done when I FEEL it's finished. It's a sense of harmony - a commonly used word in the Danish language 'hygge' comes to mind - a warm feeling that brings enjoyment and a sense of completion.
Often I will photograph my work to study it indoors, especially when my studio is too cold in the Melbourne winter.
I work in acrylic as I don't have the patience to wait for oils to dry.
I have exhibited in local galleries and completed several commissions.
