Artwork Description

I paint aspects of the season. I notice changes in light and colour and replicate the sensation of movement through the swipe of the brush. "Windswept" depicts the subtle shift from summer to autumn as leaves drift in tandem caught in a breeze that heralds the change in the air. This large, versatile impressionist artwork that can be hung portrait or landscape. It has been professionally framed in raw oak by Forman Framing in Melbourne.

Artist Bio

Anne-Maree Wise’s artworks are reconstructed visions of seasons and settings. Having drawn since childhood, and later majoring in painting at Deakin University, her botanical studies explore nature’s untamed and changeable demeanour, whilst her abstracts palpably interpret the gestures of light and shadow.
Tutoring in art education since the age of 22, within both the public and private education sectors, she took an extended leave of absence in 2015, primarily to recalibrate and prioritise her artistry. Leaving much of the process of production up to her emotional content, her revealing brushstroke work liberates an energetic frequency that results in deeply insightful declarations.
Perceptively observing the organic environment, she is frequently photographing her surroundings, from the composition of pigmentation in the sky, to waves descending crosswise against shore, to the bursting buds of new blooms in the earth. What eventuates on the canvas is typically a more abundant depiction of what she has witnessed through the lens of the camera.
After entering a collection of pieces into an emerging artists exhibition in 2015, Anne-Maree held her first solo show later that year, with a body of larger abstract works. Since then, her work has been seen across metropolitan Melbourne, including two installation exhibits in conjunction with the City of Casey.
At present she accepts commissions and her works appear in private collections in both Australia and Japan.
