Artwork Description

Nestled in north western suburbs of Brisbane, the macadamia was once a common garden tree, along with the traditional Meyer lemon. Bordering the fence line of our lovely neighbours, a stately macadamia tree more than 50 years old, each season, drops its leaves. These leaves are complex and intrinsically beautiful in their process back to soil. Rich colours show clearly on closer inspection and are accented by the unusual frill curling of the leaf edges.

Based in Brisbane, ANNE SCANLON is a self taught artist who loves to paint uplifting pieces in a variety of mediums. Her love affair with painting and drawing started age 4, under the encouragement and guidance of her late grandfather, Harold, a skilled oil painter. She finds inspiration in the everyday, and loves to use the colours and subjects that she comes across in her home and surrounds.

Anne is currently working in Oil Pastels, a responsive, dynamic, vibrant medium with a playful nature. She loves to paint the joyful, nostalgic, the beautiful, anything that can lift the spirits or soothe. She loves texture, shadows, light and saturated colour. Her favourite things to paint are those that bring a smile, or a happy memory. Anything that can bring a moment of joy.
