Since I was a child, and as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with painting and mark making.
I mainly work in watercolours and inks, mixing medias to achieve complex details. There is a particular freshness that can be achieved with watercolours, and I enjoy the impulsiveness a loaded brush calls for! In my art I love using a mix of subdued transparent colours and more opaque colour transitions, retaining areas of high contrast to add focus and interest to my images.
In my monotype practice, I roll dark oils on a glass pane. This medium gives me time to โcarveโ into the paint with an assortment of tools to create my designs. The beauty of this process is the partial loss of control and the happy accidents that occur along the way. Only one print can be made with this method, and the surprising effects revealed upon the pull of the printed paper is so exciting to me!
My main source of inspiration is found in the forest around our home and the amazing beauty of the Pittwater area.
I hope you will share my sense of wonder in discovering my art. Thank you!
