Budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulates)
I love seeing these beautiful small, nomadic parrots in the Australian Outback. They gather in large flocks and follow available food & water, their green plumage shimmering in the sun as they wheel and turn over the red desert.
The Australian green budgerigar is the original wild bird from which all mutations in the pet bird originate.
This painting was inspired by a large flock near Boodjamulla /Lawn Hill Gorge - Queensland Australia.
