This series of works explores female characters and roles with fluid lines, clean colours, pattern and use of mixed media to explore versions of the female identity – both self perception and community perception.
Modern Tribal is an exploration of pattern, colour and shape. I was looking at the faces we present to the outside world and this strong rhythmic face emerged. The colours were brave and uncompromising too as is the stance – defiant and unapologetic for who she is. Not needing to identify with any other group but to establish her own tribe or identity.
