Artwork Description

A portrait of an African timber carving of a fertility goddess. Asante. Which is an artifact, a magically endowed figure to evoke fertility, and is carried by the women of Ghana. She is made of ebony and sometimes has beads as adornment. She is beautiful and is believed to have exceptional power.

Artist Bio

I am an artist and painter, living and painting in a mid century timber weatherboard cottage with 70 year old gardens and trees, in the beautiful Blue Mountains of NSW. The Blue Mountains are listed as World Heritage and my surroundings give me so much inspiration for my art.

I love all things vintage, love of recycling, reusing and redoing.

Working more than 5 decades in a purchasing role for large companies, so now I can follow my love of painting art again.

Working with oil paint mostly, as I love the buttery thick texture it brings to an artwork. I use the pallet knife also in my work as the consistency of oil paint responds beautifully to this technique.
I love to paint many different types of artworks, including still life, landscape, naive, portraiture and impressionist abstract.

My paintings are always many layers of paint so it gives depth and texture to the artwork.

I hope you enjoy looking at my art.

There is a lot of love gone into every one of my paintings and I hope that you can feel that.

I meet every week with other artists to paint and exchange ideas and enjoy their company.
