Sometimes as an artist your journey starts facing a blank canvas. Paint goes down, brushes and palette knives come out, gloves go on. What starts off as a background soon develops a foreground, the foreground takes on a life of its own when highlights and shadows are applied. Before long, you are on the road, walking, feeling, sensing the atmosphere. The scene becomes one you imagine immersing yourself in. You feel the snap and crunch of the fresh frosty path and wrap your coat tighter as you wander closer to the low mist swirling around the fields. I really enjoyed bringing this painting to life. It took me on a much needed little walk of my own. *
