Artwork Description

Courage for me is about having Faith, Hope and Love.
Faith in yourself to face the daily challenges and act on your beliefs despite the setbacks.
Hope in the future and the faith to grab it with both hands and move forward.
Love yourself and others unconditionally with no judgment.
Courage comes from the heart as the seat of our feelings.

Artist Bio

Ann Williams-Fitzgerald resides in the coastal township of George Town, in the Tamar Valley. Ann is a fifth-generation Tasmanian and the daughter of a WWII Polish Holocaust survivor. After spending 40 years away from her home state, she relocated back to Tasmania in 2019. Ann has a Master of Contemporary Arts from UTAS and is actively involved in the arts in the George Town region. As a practising visual artist and curator, her interests are multi-faceted, and she works across all media. Ann has had 23 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 33 combined group exhibitions.

Her art is an attempt to allow the image to make itself clear with minimal influence of the mind, by a process of being still and receptive to what it is that wants to be painted.
Ann is passionate about the environment and making her art. She uses the journey of artistic expression as a doorway inwards. Uncovering ever-deepening ways of ‘being’ into the experience of life, transmitting to the viewer the sublime metaphors through symbols, colour and rich backgrounds. The works crosses over from minimalism into abstract expressionism. After taking a hiatus from art she decided to rekindle her true passion after moving back to Tasmania. Ann has worked as a TAFE arts teacher and associate lecturer in Illustration & Visualisation (drawing) at CQ University for 10 years. She has experience in researching, planning, developing, designing and delivering training courses in the visual arts, photography and metaphysics.
