Artwork Description

2022 Winner of people's choice award in The Art of Instruction Exhibition at Blue Lizard Gallery. This Large Pastel Painting was inspired by the many birds I have seen at different bird parks we have visited. I have always loved Birds of all types but these Magnificent specimens have to be my favorites.
I love that the Scarlet Macaw is the odd one out but is happy to sit with the Blue and Gold Macaws and is accepted by them without Question. The animal world teaches us so much if only we would listen!
Painted with top Quality Artist Grade Pastels ( Schminke, Unison, Art Spectrum , Sennelier ) on Art Spectrum Colourfix Primed Board with a Bokeh style blurred background that makes the birds really stand out, this Painting looks so realistic.
Framed with double Matt board and Frame to really compliment the painting using Non Reflective Ultra Vue UV70 Glass which virtually eliminates reflections and filters up to 70 % of UV rays this painting will look fantastic for years to come in any room.
This Painting will come to you very securely packaged with a Certificate of Authenticity

Artist Bio

I’m originally from the United Kingdom, emigrating to Perth, Western Australia in 2005 with my husband.

Painting became part of my life in 2016 when I had to reevaluate my life and goals. Being given only months to potentially live is rather a jolt to one’s system. However my cancer diagnosis ignited in me a need in me to create, something to remain after my passing and be remembered by if you will. And it’s painting that I always vowed to do ‘one day’ that came to mind, even though I was far too occupied with medical treatments. However I did manage to do a short pastel workshop on beach workshops that seduced me into fulfilling my artistic dreams.

March of 2019, I was, against all odds, given a 5 year ‘all clear’ from terminal cancer. In particular this allowed me to fully embrace my enjoyment and delight of creating paintings of things I love most. My favourite medium is pastels, I enjoy the feel of them on my fingers, no brushes involved! I started creating coastal scenes with them. However I now also embrace painting other things that delight me similarly - boats, houses, still life, birds animals and plants and I also undertake commissions. I do continue to attend classes, improving my skills and learning new techniques and mediums of all kinds.

My artworks so far, are held in private collections in USA, Barbados, Northern Cyprus, Switzerland, the UK, as well as Australia. I exhibit regularly, locally at art societies and shows, and have a personal gallery.

The paintings that I do are ones that dispel my worries, and am pleased when others feel the same, saying that they can imagine themselves walking on such beautiful, peaceful beaches, wading in the gentle waves, or smelling the flowers. My realistic art certainly allows one to feel that they are dwelling within my painting, I’m often told. Hopefully it allows you to feel the same.”
