This is part of a series of Still Life paintings I made exploring the use of fully saturated colour. I consider these works to be as abstract as they are figurative, that is to say they are as much about colour and shape relationships within a specific format, as they are about the given subject. In this work I was clearly influenced by the marvellous poetic simplicity of Giorgio Morandi's paintings.
