This painting is from a series I made on the theme of figures in interiors. A primary influence was Matisse's paintings of his Nice hotel room but I also have been influenced by Giacometti's paintings of figures in his studio. The model in this painting was ms. Regina Kaluzny, one of my very favourite Melbourne models.
