Artwork Description

When I heard jelly fish are moving around the world to polluted waters and 'cleaning' our oceans, my respect and admiration of them being 'other worldly' grew. I wanted to celebrate these marine animals who have been around even before dinosaurs! My work is a celebration of nature and often highlights environmental themes.
Made from Porcelain slip (body of the jelly fish) and glazed with a sea-green glaze with porcelain embossed pattern. It has varied green and turquoise fabric tentacles, suspended from a clear perspex plate inside the body of the jellyfish, longest tentacle is 150cm . Suspended by a 40cm transparent nylon thread with a stainless steel hanging loop. Total length from stainless steel loop to longest tentacle is approximately 190cm.
