Anthea is an environmental ceramic sculptural artist who lives and works on the North Coast of NSW. She has a Diploma of Ceramics and has an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts majoring in Ceramics. She has been a finalist in ‘Foot Square’ Aspire Gallery Brisbane 2022, Urunga small sculpture art prize 2022.Ingenuity Small sculpture prize 2021, and Little Things art prize 2021, She has had a Solo show in The Cube Gallery in Byron Bay, as well as several group shows including the Lismore Regional Gallery (Lismore, NSW), Aspire Gallery (Brisbane), Eltham Gallery (Eltham, NSW), Mist Gallery (Cabarita, NSW) Elevator A.R.I and Serpentine Gallery (Lismore, NSW).
She draws her inspiration from the natural world where she finds endless stimulation and beauty. She strives to capture the magnificence of her surroundings often exploring environmental themes. She has developed sculptural objects based on seed pod forms, coral forms and marine animals.
Anthea uses various hand building and slip casting methods. She employs a range of surface techniques including layering glazes, sgraffito, carving, underglaze painting and a variety of firing processes. Anthea’s sculptural pieces
stimulate discussions concerning humanity’s relationship with nature.
