Artwork Description

This piece is one of my new geometric abstract paintings that I have been developing over the past few months.
I develop the shapes and patterns through drawing and observing the forms around me in my everyday world. These linear abstractions could be roads, tracks, veins, electronics or satellite views of farmland. The viewer can decide what they see. I find the creation of these paintings very meditative and peaceful.
This small experimental work will form the basis of some new larger pieces to come soon.
I have placed the painting in a handmade frame with a Black Japan finish.
The painting is a nice size to fit on a small wall or corner.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist based in Hobart, Tasmania, I trained at the Tasmanian School of Art, earning a Master of Fine Art and Design in 2002. I have won numerous awards and exhibited widely in Australia and overseas.
My professional experience includes a number of artist residencies including at the Cite' Internationale des Arts in Paris.
I have worked in a range of media including sculpture, photography and painting. My current interest is in abstract and non-representational art, particularly geometrical abstraction.
I am inspired by the natural world and my everyday experience, though my works are not direct representations of "things" they are stimulated by my surroundings.
