Converse

This piece is one of my new expressive abstract paintings that I have been developing over the past few months.
I work the paint intuitively, applying with a brush or palette knife. I scrape back sections and rework them in layers to give depth to the painting.
This small experimental work will form the basis of some new larger pieces to come soon.
I have placed the painting in a handmade frame with a Chalk paint finish.
The painting is relatively small, so would sit nicely in a corner or on a shelf to brighten up your space.

I am a visual artist based in Hobart, Tasmania, I trained at the Tasmanian School of Art, earning a Master of Fine Art and Design in 2002. I have won numerous awards and exhibited widely in Australia and overseas.
My professional experience includes a number of artist residencies including at the Cite' Internationale des Arts in Paris.
I have worked in a range of media including sculpture, photography and painting. My current interest is in abstract and non-representational art, particularly geometrical abstraction.
I am inspired by the natural world and my everyday experience, though my works are not direct representations of "things" they are stimulated by my surroundings.
