Artwork Description

Inspired by my love of visual texture this painting belongs to a series of artworks based on the contrasting, complimentary colour schemes according to the colour wheel. There are approximately 300 individually hand crafted origami butterflies in meticulously chosen, high quality origami paper, in the perfect hues of blue and then installed on an abstract acrylic artwork in orange hues designed to highlight the perfect contrasting, complimentary colour scheme. A wonderful, modern addition to any space.

Artist Bio

I am a full-time artist living on the Central Coast of NSW. A self taught artist with a passion for colour, fashion and interiors. I have also enjoyed art classes with Rachel Adler of Studio 70 in Vaucluse.

I started drawing at an early age and with parents always going to glamorous events I think led me to appreciate all things beautiful and fashionable. In my 20’s I decided I needed a proper artistic outlet and I joined an art class run by Rachel Adler of Studio 70 where I managed to stretch my creativity into different mediums. I became drawn to still life subjects and started using pastels.
Then after a fabulous trip to New York for my 40th, where I stayed at Kit Kemp’s beautiful Crosby Street hotel in SoHo, my passion for fashion, colour and interiors was properly ignited.
I moved on to a series of fashion figures while developing my painting skills using Acrylic paints on linen canvas.
I have always had an innate sense of colour, so after completing a Cert IV in Interior Design and Decoration in 2019 (and during COVID 20/21) my new inspiration for my art changed again. I moved on to my interpretation of an Australian landscape, painted in a bright and bold colour scheme and adorned with hundreds of my handmade origami butterflies to signify new beginnings.
In fact, my passion for all things creative seems to lead me down an ever changing path of personal discovery but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
