Artwork Description

This artwork comes with an external frame

This work is part of the series »3000 feet«. This
project carefully places a frame around selections
of endless structures, fractual patterns, shapes
and colours of some of Australia’s prestine and
remote areas, Shark Bay, Lake McLeod, the
Gascoyne River, Ningaloo & the Kennedy Range.
»Red Earth Junction« is part of a personal
journey from ranges into river beds, from red
soils to turquoise waters, white salt lakes to vivid
explosions of colour. Artistic interpretations of
aerial landscapes inspired by raw nature and
indigenous art & culture.
These photographs were created on one of many
trips on board a small Jabiru two-seater aircraft.
The door half open, photographer and camera
gear strapped in, the plane tilted 90 degrees
sideways, flying in a downward spiral to allow
the captivating perspective required
to create these photographs.

Artist Bio

As a documentary photographer, I observe a wide range of human society and nature-related subject matter, approached holistically down to the finest details. In contrast, my art practice as a designer and fine art photographer allows me to interpret and express those observations.
My background in communication design highlights both the differences and commonalities between Art and Design. This has enabled me to work as a professional photographer and designer in Europe and Australia, creating a wide range of creative work including, artworks, public art, exhibitions, books, brandings…
Although a native of Germany, I have been resident in Australia since 2011 and immersed in Aboriginal and wider culture on Country. This privilege has affected me in ways that continue to evolve with resulting exhibitions and awards drawing together my interpretations of people and place throughout the rich Gascoyne and surrounding regions. Recent public art projects include major State Government Percent-for-Art awards for public art in hospital, courthouse and education facilities which include selected images from this 3000 feet series.
