Artwork Description

Pink Sorbet No. 7 by Kate Graham. This daytime landscape features a soaring pink sky with sun, interwoven with a patchwork of red, orange, purple, green, blue and yellow fields and trees below. It is an almost surreal rural scene that celebrates colour and composition. Painted in a naive style to bring a sense of charm and delight, painted with dry-brush effect to give it a textured feel, colours are woven together in a patchwork of harmony and sometimes disharmony. The flattened perspective gives the composition a naive and whimsical feel. The painting invites the viewer to see landscapes from another imaginative point of view. This would make a striking addition to any art collection, bringing cheerful whimsy to your walls.

Painted on quality canvas, wire on back so ready to hang. Sides painted in continuation of composition, so no need to frame.

Artist Bio

Having grown up in a household with a fulltime artist, Kate has always had an interest in art and especially paintings, being drawn to the world that are created in the area of the canvas. At university Kate majored in photography, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2003. In the years since, she built up a career as a graphic designer and illustrator in a number of advertising agencies across Sydney and Brisbane, either fulltime or on a freelance basis. After moving to Brisbane in 2010 she soon began pursing her love of painting, culminating in her first exhibition in 2014. As a result of this successful foray, she exhibited in a number of galleries in Queensland and Sydney since. In late 2017 Kate decided to end her corporate career, having reached the level of a senior graphic designer, in order to work fulltime in her creative studio, Anvil Artworks. Here she explores her passion for painting, while also working as a freelance designer and illustrator.Kate’s work is a celebration of colour. Her naive landscapes invite the view to enter the realm of the imagination by exploring the hues and shapes of the compositions. Landscapes offer the perfect outlet for presenting colour in riotous combinations in some instances, and in others a more muted but still impactful approach.
