Artist Bio

ARTIST BIO
Born and raised initially in the United States, prior to relocating to Australia
during her early childhood, Melbourne contemporary artist Anya Love
produces distinguishing and enigmatic works that interweave abstract and
representational art forms. Balancing innate shapes with highly
conceptualised renderings, these elements are depicted in a state of
beautified distortion to portray themes of interconnectivity, duality and
expansion. Describing a responsive and acclimatised state of existence on
the canvas, and summarising stories that resonate with her internal self, her
works embody these narratives through an intense degree of mark making,
organic gesturing and colour layering.

After acquiring a Diploma in Visual Arts, Anya went on to train in design, prior
too commencing a career in the photography industry. During her fifteen-year
tenure, she spent considerable time styling and methodically executed the
expression of form and composition. These experiences have since become
a resounding force behind the works she presently produces, and
photography remains an integral component of her creative process as she
shoots each independent layer of each work.

Remaining unbound to a single artistic methodology, she instead directs her focus largely towards the
emotional sensations that naturally materialise throughout the
developmental process. Her works are frequently rotated during their
creation to ensure each phase is worked on from four distinct perspectives,
with the final orientation revealing itself in the work’s concluding stages.

Anya currently accepts commissions and creates her works full-time inside her
Melbourne-based studio.
