Hi my name is April Rose, my perfect weekend would involve a beautiful sunny day with my easel next to a big open window painting in the sunshine.
Each of my artwork features a distinctive textural focal point. Sand is one of the main materials I use to create interest in my artwork. Thick flicks of a sandy paint mixture are strewn across the canvas surface, once dry they leave behind a beautify rough textural element to my work. I absolutely love texture in artwork, I feel it creates a new way to interact with an artwork instead of just visually appreciating the beautiful picture the artist has created. Instead of stepping back to take in an image, it invites you to come close and run your hand over the surface of the painting connecting with the artwork in a new way.
When someone’s buys a piece of my art I don’t want it to sit on a wall forever untouched, I want people to be drawn to touch the surface of the artwork each time they walk past and interact with my art not only on a visual level but also through touch and feel, appreciating the art in its entirety.
