Ari Zed is a Western Australian painter working with oil on canvas. He holds Honours in Fine Art from the Victorian College of the Arts and has exhibited widely in Melbourne and Perth, including solo exhibitions at Earlywork Gallery, Polaris Gallery, Stockroom, Seventh Gallery and Red Gallery.
His paintings depict figures moving through expansive landscapes of mountains, cloud, water and open space. The works operate like tarot cards: dense with symbolism, open to multiple readings, and designed as meaning-generating surfaces rather than fixed statements. Scale is important. Larger canvases create a bodily, immersive experience that contrasts with the fragmented way most images are consumed on screens.
The paintings engage the generative life force that animates form. Figures appear as playful, recently empowered beings exploring the edges of what can be made real. Viewers are invited to meet the work through feeling and personal association rather than explanation.
Ari currently lives and works in Hamilton Hill, Western Australia. His practice continues to explore atmospheric space, symbolic density, and the quiet invitation of the image.
