A highly textured abstract painting in white, blues, turquoise and red. There are bold elements of movement and expression using oil pastels, paint, pencil and charcoal, with quiet spaces of white, cream and light values in between to define the shapes. The abstract world is reminiscent of an other worldly landscape with a strange rocket like element, and various architectual elements with straight lines and curved lines.

This is an image of the vibrant abstract painting, "Trust Fall" by Kathryn Gruber. The paint is thickly textured with defined relief and scratching into deeper layers of the paint. The background is largely white and cream, with a large red and fuschia shape in the middle of the painting with splashes of light blue, and a separate red shape at the top left corner. The bigger shape vaguely resembles a figure falling backwards, with blue streaks emanating from the head and shoulders to accentuate backwards movement.

Ginkgo biloba - Original handprinted Cyanotype A4

This original cyanotype features Ginkgo biloba, commonly known as ginkgo, a species of gymnosperm tree native to East Asia. The leaves are unique among seed plants, being fan-shaped with veins radiating out into the leaf blade, sometimes splitting. Ginkgos are prized for their autumn foliage, which is a deep saffron yellow.

Cyanotype, also known as sun printing, is one of the earliest photographic processes, developed in 1842. This cameraless technique uses ultraviolet (UV) light to create images on paper coated with a light-sensitive iron-salt solution.

To create this work, carefully dried plant specimens were arranged between sheets of glass in my studio at Montsalvat, and placed directly onto hand-coated paper. The print was then exposed to UV light and washed in water, revealing the characteristic deep blue image unique to cyanotype.

This artwork is an original cyanotype print, not a reproduction.

Cyanotypes are highly archival when displayed and cared for like any fine artwork, away from direct sunlight. Should the print lose intensity over time, the blue tones can naturally regenerate by resting the work in darkness for a short period.

Each cyanotype is handmade, making every print a unique record of both the plant specimen and the photographic process.
