Moon Lane

I took a phot of a laneway in heavy sunlight in Toowoomba near the Gardens and when I started painting the colours I was choosing started to look like it was moon lit. I kept the heavy shadows and it reminded me of an old movie when they shot the scene in the daylight and then made the film dark to pretend it was night time.

I paint in a modern contemporary style and try to capture the movement in the subject with fluid brush strokes. The moody, brooding atmosphere that comes with using dusty colours help make the paintings not about the subject matter but about the evocative feelings.
