Poinciana Mystic

I started the landscape from a photo I took at Newfarm Park in Brisbane and as it was raining outside I started spraying the paint and it started to have a misty look so I kept going and softened the background and the Poinciana looked like it was in another realm from the foggy background. The painting is in a wooden floater frame.

I paint in a modern contemporary style and try to capture the movement in the subject with fluid brush strokes. The moody, brooding atmosphere that comes with using dusty colours help make the paintings not about the subject matter but about the evocative feelings.
