Sunflower Gallery

I took a photo of the sunflowers at the Wentworth Gallery and wanted to show them being part of the exhibition by David Hinchliffe this year. I left the underpainting in multiple colours to show through the shape of the vase and in parts of the background.

I paint in a modern contemporary style and try to capture the movement in the subject with fluid brush strokes. The moody, brooding atmosphere that comes with using dusty colours help make the paintings not about the subject matter but about the evocative feelings.
