Sunflowers Blue

Sunflowers have a great appeal to me with the colours and shapes and this one started as a drawing and then developed into a scratchy image. The flowers seem to be trying t push their way out of the background.

I paint in a modern contemporary style and try to capture the movement in the subject with fluid brush strokes. The moody, brooding atmosphere that comes with using dusty colours help make the paintings not about the subject matter but about the evocative feelings.
