This art piece was my first piece I created. It opened me up to my passion as an artist. I had no idea what I was doing, I just did what came naturally to me.
I couldn't believe the outcome and I knew that my identity was about to shift.
I had recently moved from my hometown that I had always known for the 29 years of my life. My Mum and my best friend, my brother... moved to a different state. At the time I believed I was fine, but looking back now I realised how challenging it was to let go of something that was always apart of me.
I was in a crucial transition of my life, from always having family and familiarity around, to moving to the country with my children on my own.
The ocean at the time was the only place I felt grounded. A place that gave me a sense of security and a reminder of the comfort of family.
