After the Rain

This work was inspired by the landscape surrounding the artist’s home in Western Australia following the first rain after a long hot summer. The work is influenced by the artist’s experience of synaesthesia, through which words, sounds and music are accompanied by colours and textures.

Ashleigh Whyte is a Perth based painter and textile artist. Her colour compositions are made from amorphous textural planes and organic shapes, which interpret and imagine landscapes and dreamy states of being. Her experience of synaesthesia motivates her desire to express the inexpressible.
