“On the other side of a storm is the strength that comes from having navigated through it. Raise your sail and begin.” ― Gregory S. Williams
'Adversity' - Limited Edition 1 of 1.
'Adversity' is another aerial photograph from one of my favourite places, Robe, South Australia. Robe
Robe holds a special part in my life and always will, and as it also does for many friends and people I talk to about Robe and my photographs. This particular photograph one of my favourites of Robe and the Obelisk, bathed in the afternoon sun, waves crashing nearby, with the perfect view of Doorway Rock in the foreground.
The Southern Ocean is unforgiving and relentless, but the Robe Obelisk stands proudly on the point of Cape Dombey and still provides a landmark to navigate the entrance into Guichen Bay. Robe is a town and fishing port located on the Limestone Coast of South Australia. The obelisk was built on Cape Dombey in 1852 to help ships navigate safely into the bay. Even so, there have been a number of shipwrecks along the coast in the area. An automatic lighthouse was built on higher ground in 1973 which can be seen in the left of the photograph.
The town’s distinctive combination of historical buildings, ocean, fishing fleets, lakes and dense bush is widely appreciated by locals and visitors.
