The striking variation of colours spread across the landscape, looking like a painter's palette, contrasted against the harsh, dry landscape. Bratten Way on the Eyre Peninsular was named after the invention of Mr R. Bratten, a plough; he was an overseer of works in the District of Tumby Bay, West Coast, S.A. It became so wonderful in certain road construction that he became famous for his invention.
