This is an artist impression this "ancient lake". It was formed by the aeolian processes . The Pleistocene epoch. The basin nestles in protected areas and straddles SA - NSW - QLD - NT. The aboriginal name for it is Kati Thanda. When it is filled to near capacity it is the largest lake in Australia. The lake has only filled to capacity three times in the last 160 years.- 1950-1974-1984. taking about 2 years to dry out again. It has even been observed from a space shuttle . I find this fascinating. This art work could be a real talking point in your household.
