This piece is a combination of my memories of Lakes Entrance in Victoria and a scene from South Africa. When I went to visit my daughter there we went hiking in the mountains and I discovered that the landscape in SA is very similar to that of Australia! My landscapes are always drawn from feelings and then the actual places and sometimes as in this case, two or more memories of place merge into one image. There are similarities of landscapes, all over the world. The materials used are from a texture paste, and the first layer is always acrylic inks and acrylic paint. Then for the final layer, for the depth of colour, I use oil paints. Finally, the whole painting is coated with a satin varnish.
