Artwork Description

The Dreamcatcher was created with acrylic Inks and acrylic Paints after the Art Board had been prepared with Gesso. The Face Circle has some texture added, which was done via a stencil.
Although I have added hooks and a string to the back, this Artwork would look better framed.
The Dreamcatcher Circle represents th "Circle of Life", and how the Sun and Moon travel each Day and Night across the Sky. The Web in the Circle catches the bad Dreams during the Night and disposes of them when Daylight comes. The good Dreams are said to climb up the Strings and Feathers and reach the Person undisturbed.

Artist Bio

I grew up at the seaside in Bremerhaven/Germany and was always inspired by beach, shells, little creatures in the wet sand, when the tide went out and the smell of saltwater in the air. In my imaginary world I made up the stories to go with what I experienced.

I immigrated from Germany to Australia and I am married to a Kiwi. I travelled the World before I settled in Australia and I love creating Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific Works of Art, as I love the Sea and everything to do with the Sea.

At first I joined an Art Class, painted onto wood, pebbles, glass and anything I could find and learned a lot of mediums and techniques that way. I then experienced with Canvas and went my own way. I love Australian Flora and Fauna and stopped there for a while and then I painted hundreds of Frangipani’s, Hibiscus and Beach and Ocean Scenes.
We travelled twice a year to NZ to connect with my husband’s Family and for our daughter to know their Grand Parents. Since I love NZ, as it reminds me of home, and I love the Maori Culture, my Art started to get influenced by NZ Scenes and Shells and Carvings, giving the viewer a glance into my unique style of creating.
I started to incorporate different Carving symbols and meaningful authentic historical images of the Maori People into my art and painted collage Paintings to tell a story, and to be unique, which have captured the hearts of many for different reasons.
5 Years ago I did a weekend workshop creating with acrylic inks and paints, stencils, experienced with Paper, Texture and mixed media, followed by on-line classes to free up my style of art a bit. I use a form of storytelling to spark the viewer’s imagination to wander in and around the piece.
I love painting with bold colour.

For most of my life I have worked in Finance and painted at Night and Weekends, therefore I have only sold my Art online,.
Now retired, I love the freedom of painting on a daily basis.
