Artwork Description

This painting is a reflection of my love for peaceful, untouched nature. I wanted to capture the beauty of a quiet forest where time seems to slow down, and the water lilies float gently on the calm surface of a hidden pond. The deep greens of the trees and foliage create a sense of mystery, while the light dancing on the water brings warmth and tranquility.

Through rich textures and layered brushstrokes, I aimed to bring depth and life to the scene—inviting the viewer to step into this serene world, breathe in the fresh air, and feel the stillness of nature. This artwork is not just about what we see but about the emotions it evokes—peace, reflection, and the quiet magic of being surrounded by nature.

Artist Bio

Atefeh Hekmat was born 1972 in Tehran, Iran. She has a degree in Psychology from Azad University, Tehran. Hekmat also studied photography in Iran and has worked as a professional photographer for Emetis Talar Wedding Function Centre. She has been painting landscapes and figurative work for the last 15 years under the tutelage of Ostad Jafar Shahir in Tehran. After opening her own art gallery, Hekmat developed several exhibitions with support of art teachers and friends. She wored as an assistant painter for four years in Iran, learning different styles of painting. Hekmat was invited to work with Tehran Municipality, a job offer she was not able to take as she had to leave the country and come to Australia to seek asylum. She has since shown her work at SSI"s Art is our Voice exhibition and a number of community and women-focused events.

Hekmat"s artistic practice centres on oil and acrylic painting on canvas. She has a great love of nature and her works predominately reflect the changing moods of the landscape. Her works are dynamic and represent her desire to connect with her inner journey as an artist.
