Happy Dance

Happy Dance was made at the end of a long period of being stuck inside. It symbolises the rush of freedom we all felt at the end of 2020- the need top express ourselves, to dance, to be happy!
Happy Dance is inspired by the Brolga's of Queensland, the famous dancing birds.

Trained as an art teacher in The Netherlands, it was only in Australia (and after our 3 kids grew up a little) that I focussed on my sculpture career.
Moving countries was interesting, but also brought some problems- different sources and language sometimes prohibited me from finding the materials I was used to.
My inspiration has always been in nature, and in animals as their liveliness and movement touches me. I love plastic materials like clay, wax and cement, and at the same time love working with metal- and the very best is combining them!
When working with a material I will always seek out what cant be done- and how to do it anyway.
