Artwork Description

I am very much Influenced by the artist Yayio Kusama- I make atwork out of pain and trauma, I make about three of these a day and spend 3-7 hours a day making art- specifically abstract flowers and leaves. I was misdiagnosed with a psychotic illness and I am left with a level of pain and trauma most people couldn’t comprehend. Art is the way I cope; I am in the middle of making work for a solo show which I could hopefully get done in three months. I’ve only started making work two months ago- but I’m painting with such a intense frequency that most nerotypical people couldn’t comprehend- I have more then enough work from all the art I made before I couldn’t make work for two years due to trauma- but now I’m solely focused on making a solo show.

I hope you appreciate this- it’s been a very long time since I have uploaded work and I hope you like it because I’m personally conflicted about the price- before I only priced my works slightly higher then all the materials and not even accounting the time it took to make it- but now I know my art is worth more then I realised.

Artist Bio

Artist’s Statement:
This series of work is both experimental and diaristic, and is a representation of previous ideas which have been reimagined and subsequently expanded upon. I have pursued the inclusion of embroidered passages in these pieces. The works themselves are largely intuitive, and are a form of art therapy- to express my self creatively with mess and pain and joy in a way that more figurative paintings are harder to do so

There is a decided tension on the surface of the pieces, and it has been one of my aims here to juxtapose the ‘organic’ soufflage of oil paint and water against the embroidered areas beside them, creating what is in effect, a visual disruption of the picture plane. This has created a map-like image, highlighting the contrast between the Classic and the Romantic, or the organic and the contrived.

There are other works of mine- my work has evolved to be diaristic with a variety of mediums such as photography, collage, water paint, screen prints and even some sculptures.

I have so many areas of my life where I don't feel as confident or capable as neurotypical people- but what I have is a true gift and drive for art and language, which I am using to the best of my ability. My work is inspired by the artists Yayio Kusama, Tracy Emin, and Lisa Hanawalt

I am currently in the process of making a solo and group show- I have many works I wish to share to the world, but I need to save them for when they can all be presented as a collective piece.

My account is avalong19- I made the account when I was 19, and it has developed into more that I could imagine and hope for-

I show all my new work there, what I am planning to be exhibited- as it is a visual platform which you can show your work somewhere where others can appreciate, but without the pressures of price and sales.
