Artwork Description

Drawing on paper

Signed on the back.

My artwork is created by using illustration on photography.. I select photographs that I think could work well compositionally with my illustration- then using a pen and ink to draw attention to the fine details in the work. In this instance, I collaborated with a photographer Jacob Green in his perception of outback Australia, and the danger that often surrounds it. The woman in the photograph has a quite strength to her, which i tried to convey through illustration, by drawing attention to her stance.
The works themselves are largely intuitive, ,highlighting the contrast between the Classic and the Romantic, or the organic and the contrived. This artwork would be best suited to am living room or bedroom, the warm tones of the work contrasting well with the precise black lines.

The photograph was taken using a stop motion camera and a torchlight, playing with light. The image was taken on a rock in a forest in brisbane, and the model in the image is me.I made these works using large text that would cover the canvas and glued them onto a foam sheet and cut out the letters to make stencils. I had to measure the text size to the size I would want them to be on the canvas, then outlined the stencils with a pencil and painted the outline in white. Originally the artwork was going to tay simply painted, but I have a passion for embroidery from a very young age and I felt the work would have more emphasis if I embroidered all the words and focused on the background as well. The thread I used for the words is messy and all encompassing- itโ€™s a peice that shows me as an artist, someone who never gives up even when the embrodiery causes pain.I used water colour pencils on a canvas peice of paper, adding more and more colour blocks until it filled the page completely
