Artwork Description

“The Onion’s crown” is a vibrant and introspective piece that captures the journey of self-perfection and the collective human experience. The crowned figure symbolises the ultimate realisation that we are perfect just as we are. This artwork delves deep into the layers of self, much like the layers of an onion, revealing hidden depths and complexities.
The striking all-seeing eye represents awareness and observation, constantly taking in the world around us. The absence of a mouse suggests a silent wisdom, a contemplative state that speaks volumes without uttering a word. The colours chosen for this piece are deliberate and evocative: the organic earthy mustard provides a grounding backdrop, while the blue-turquoise adds a dynamic contrast, making the elements pop with energy. Black accents further enhance the focal points, creating a bold visual impact.
The artwork is a playful exploration of layers, both in its physical composition and conceptual depth. The clip art style reminiscent of the a 90’s childhood brings a sense of familiarity and comfort. This piece not only brightens a room with its vibrant hues but also invites viewers to reflect on their own layers and silent wisdom they carry within.

Artist Bio

Astrid spends a lot of her creative time, in the measured and precise medium of Lino Printing. However a passion for, creativity and balance lead Astrid to explore Abstract painting. Usually the process is quite a journey of brush strokes, colour and time. Multiply under paintings are created before an image and palette are chosen, meaning that the canvas is already loaded with texture before the final artwork is even started.
Having shared her Abstracts in several local Galleries Astrid is now stepping into the online gallery space and hopes you find a unique piece for your home.
