Artwork Description

Seventh Reflection delves into the idea of mirrors not just as tools of self-recognition, but as looking glasses—gateways into alternate realms of perception. The textured darkness of the canvas feels like a cosmos in collapse or expansion, dense and infinite, grounding the work in a space that feels both ancient and futuristic.

Six small mirrors are scattered across the canvas like celestial fragments—each one a rupture in the surface, a glimpse into elsewhere. They distort and reflect not only the viewer, but the environment, creating shifting, layered dimensions that change depending on where and how you stand. They become moments suspended in time, each reflecting a different now.

The seventh mirror, obscured by a shroud of dark paint, exists like a hidden timeline—an unseen universe or a forgotten version of reality. Its concealment speaks to the way not all portals are accessible, not all paths visible. Time folds in on itself here, and space becomes malleable.

Seventh Reflection invites the viewer into a quiet meditation on presence, absence, and the liminal spaces in between—where mirrors are more than mirrors, and time is no longer linear.

Artist Bio

Ayden Emini is a Melbourne-born, Sydney-based abstract action painter whose work transforms emotion into motion. His practice is rooted in the belief that memory—both past and present—can be translated through colour, form, and gesture. Each painting becomes a personal excavation, where layers of experience are revealed through dynamic, expressive marks.

Guided by instinct, Emini’s process is raw and immediate. Emotions fuel every movement, whether it’s the weight of memory or the intensity of a present moment. He uses colour as a symbolic language, selecting tones that reflect inner states rather than surface aesthetics. Form and texture emerge organically, often shaped by urgency, rhythm, and release.

With a background that bridges fine art and fashion, Emini brings a sensitivity to material and energy, resulting in works that are both intimate and unrestrained. His paintings reject traditional representation, instead offering emotional landscapes that invite reflection, connection, and presence.

Now living in Sydney, Emini continues to evolve his practice through studio work and live painting, exploring how art can act as a mirror to the subconscious and a release for what can’t be said in words.
