Artwork Description

Oil on wood

Signed on the front.

I stumbled on this Billabong by accident. The dappled light through the old forest canopy was reflected as a multitude of colours in the muddy waters. I have been asked exactly where the the Billabong is and I have been unable to find it again so it will always remain a memory and a unique paInting.

The impressionistic style of this oil painting reflects the rugged beauty of the mountainous region of New Zealand. The lonely tree growing in the cold glacier fed water of Lake Wanaka has become New Zealand's most photographed tree and some have claimed it may even be the world's most photographed tree. It is a symbol of survival in a time when we are surrounded by destruction of our natural environment.Impasto style oil paint that reflects the rugged beauty of this remote beach. high country. river.
