Renoir painted this impressionistic image in 1875, a young woman in profile, wearing a hat and veil and with a black and white checked shawl across her back. Renoir often portrayed young women in costume in his work, focussing on their beauty. I painted my homage to this painting in a blue palette around 2000 when I became obsessed with Renoir’s work. It’s a simple image of innocence and beauty. It would look wonderful in a period or modern home.
