Artwork Description

All my art is influenced by Chopin and champagne but on this occasion, it was ACDC, believe it or not! I enjoy taking resin a step further and creating a totally different presentation where it crosses boundaries and in this case, I used a sheet of aluminum which I buffed back and front in order to compliment the metallic finish and create an extremely unique piece of artwork. The true inspiration behind it all is our landscape here in Australia: one of the most varied on earth and encompasses a wide variety of biogeographic regions. The geography is extremely diverse, ranging from snow-capped mountains to large deserts, tropical and temperate forests, grasslands etc. In this artwork, I specifically centered on the mineral commodities: we are the second largest producer of uranium, lead, ilmenite, zircon and lithium and the third largest producer of iron ore and zinc. I wanted so much to capture the raw and rugged beauty of the minerals and present them intertwined, blending from one texture and colour to another, much like our culture has developed and intermingled.

This creation is 3 dimensional and very tactile making it a centerpiece in any setting.........certainly a conversation starter especially with the history I have briefly written about.

Artist Bio

How my love affair with art began..........

My artistic creativity has been a gradual evolution which evolved initially through different forms. Firstly, I opened 3 a la carte restaurants and then established myself in the fashion industry incorporating two designer labels and a bridal salon for 13 years.

A change of lifestyle and relocating to far North Queensland, opened yet another new discovery: that of resin art. Inspiration came from the colours of the Great Barrier Reef, (turquoise being my absolute favourite colour), together with the raw and rugged beauty of the Australian outback which I explored in my position as Queensland State Sales Manager, travelling extensively throughout the state.

The colours of metals and mineral ores, I replicate using metallic and pearlescent pigments on various substrates such as glass, aluminium, acrylic, wood, Perspex, steel and canvas. I then introduced a variety of techniques to produce artworks which are unique encapsulating the beauty of Australia, often in three dimensional forms including sculpture.

Behind all of my creativity is my great passion for music, predominantly classical and above all, Chopin. Each artwork begins with a specific harmony of sound culminating in a crescendo of visual beauty. The musical tones are translated into tones of colour. These sensations invoke what I hope will offer you pleasure and a new perspective of art in a different and unique form.

Resin art is a never-ending kaleidoscope of colours, textures and new dimensions. A little Chopin and champagne create magic and you are invited to share the journey.
