Originally from East-Berlin. First sketches of statues, temple-view as a teenager in the Pergamon Museum and realization that I like drawing. Escape to West-Berlin where I studied architecture with a major in residential/commercial design and theater design. Study excursions with university to the UK, Holland, Italy and Greece involving learning and experiencing ancient architecture and drawing architectural elements such as Dorian columns, friezes, vernacular stone-walls and cubist villages. I fell in love with the Greek islands where the white-washed villages stand in sharp contrast o he deep blue of the Aegean. Lots of drawings were the outcome of many many visits there. Years of work-experience as an architect in Berlin followed.
Midst the 80s migration to Australia and retraining as a teacher for languages (German, French, Japanese), art-history and design-technology. The experience of being a single mother in a different country and raising two young boys with no family support was difficult and would not allow me to further my interest/application in the visual arts. So, I am a late starter and quasi a 'beginner' in the field.
I only started drawing again when I lived/worked in Turkey for a couple of years(2000/2001). I did virtually hundreds of drawings whilst travelling around the country. I only ever entered once an art competition in 2011 and was shortlisted as a finalist in the 'Countryscapes' art competition run by Country Energy in NSW. I only ever exhibited once which was the outcome of a selection of participants of the 'En Plein Air, Winds of Change Wereewa Festival
in 2011 in NSW.
I love colour, shapes and design and like to test myself to see how far I can move away from a conventional perspective whilst still keep order and creating my own version of a topic/theme.
