Mallee blossoms are one of my favourite Australian wildflowers and I love how the bloom comes sprouting out of its bud like fireworks. This piece was inspired by a series of photo's I took at Kings Park in WA of a Mallee bush that was covered in blooms. I've tried to capture the beauty of the sun on the blooms by using a Gold Leaf background against the contrast of the red and green.
